Roy Prevost News - August 2011

I will divulge the winner of the survey contest later in this newsletter. I want to thank everyone who participated. The results of this survey have given me insights into programs that will serve you, my loyal subscriber, better.

I hope you are enjoying summer! Here, on the west coast we have had a wet cold June and July and finally summer has arrived by mid August.

In my last newsletter, I indicated that you would be receiving a flurry of newsletters launching new initiatives. Upon reflection, I thought it more appropriate to hold off until September when everyone is back in work mode from summer activities. So stay tuned!!

As you are aware, Target is poised to take a serious market share in the Canadian marketplace. Here is an interesting overview of the changing retail landscape and how this Big Box retailer will fare in Canada.

As I posted on my Twitter and Facebook pages, I recently came across this article in the Vancouver Sun on how smart phones are being turned into wallets. As a business person, this information will impact you in the very near future and paints a vivid picture of this new reality.

Some exciting news!!!

For several months now, I have been discreetly doing some one-on-one coaching with clients who have specifically asked me. I have decided to offer this one-on-one coaching to 10 people on my newsletter list.

I will be sending more detailed information on this initiative in my next newsletter to my 5,689 newsletter subscribers. Here is a sample of the activities that I engaged in with my most recent coaching client.

  1. Helped identify the client's major issues and then kept her accountable to her highest priorities.
  2. Delivered a mini interactive teleseminar for her new employees around professionalism, customer service, add-ons etc.
  3. Suggested activities to improve productivity.
  4. Helped the client drill down and focus on margins and profitability.
  5. Engaged the client in discussions about the future of her business and how to get there.
  6. Provided countless suggestions on marketing, getting referrals, and providing special perks to the 20% of the customers who constitute 80% of her business.
If this coaching is of interest for to you, please send me an email with the word "interested" in the subject line and I will contact you personally.

Drum Roll please!!!!!!

I had the opportunity to speak on the topic of customer service at the HY Louie/IGA worldwide conference in Bangkok Thailand this year, the title of which was Commit for Results. I was pleased to receive enthusiastic feedback on this event; if you're interested to hear what they had to say, please visit my home page.

Finally, here is a feel good story from the notorious Angola Prison in Louisiana demonstrating how positive change can emanate even in the most dire of conditions.

Enjoy the rest of the summer
Cheers,
