| At the request of my many workshop participants,
I am putting my ideas in a book entitled, “Competing
With A 700 lb. Gorilla”. I chose the title as a visual
awakening for any independent business owner whose “700lb Gorilla”
could be their attitude, their employees, their colleagues, their
customers, or competing in the Big Box Retail World.
This upcoming eBook is divided into 4 central headings with numerous
sub headings under each.
The 4 central headings are:
- 1. CONNECTION TO SELF
- 2. CONNECTION TO EMPLOYEES
- 3. CONNECTION TO COLLEAGUES
- 4. CONNECTION TO CUSTOMERS
“Connection to Self”
covers:
- Do you have passion for your work?
- Are you contributing to a bigger cause, or simply trying
to make a living?
- Are you burning out?
- Are you in a rut?
- Do you love people?
I address these fundamental questions at length in my book
since it is the platform from which all other activity flows.
“Connection to Employees”
covers:
- Do you have a vision for your business?
- Have you translated your vision to your employees?
- Do you lead by example?
- Are you stuck in a 1960’s management style?
Please note, as baby boomers are retiring in droves, the challenge
of hiring and keeping valuable employees has never been more
critical, and I offer helpful hints on how to create loyal and
long lasting employees.
“Connection to Colleagues”
covers:
- Do you suffer from the “Lone Ranger” syndrome?
- Creating alliances & partnerships with your fellow
independent business owners in your community
- Revitalizing shopping areas such as downtown cores.
“Connection To Customers”
covers:
- Being present for the customer
- Ratcheting up your enthusiasm
- Are you having fun?
- Do you love your customers?
- It’s showtime, folks!!
This eBook is filled with funny, inspiring stories about successful
small businesses that prosper next to giants. These stories will
give you hope and confidence.
This book will be launched in 2008.
